Political Propaganda Vol. 1 – Propaganda Cartoons

8th Spiru Haret St., B Hall, October 29th 2014, 12 PM

The Political Science Club (formerly known as The SPE Nation Club) continues its series of events with a new concept: Propaganda Cartoons. This time, we will watch a series of vintage cartoons covering the ideological war between national socialism, Soviet communism, and liberal democracy – one point of view at a time. Between screenings, we will discuss and debate on the way in which “the enemy” is portrayed, how effective the message had been transmitted, and the relevance of such a film in the contemporary political landscape.
Some of the titles include “Make Mine Freedom”, “Capitalist Sharks – Prophets and Lessons”, “Fascist Barbarians – A Lesson Not Learned”, “Education for Death – The Making of the Nazi”, “Der Fuehrer’s Face”, “Nimbus” si “Der Storenfried”.”
Political Propaganda is a project of The Political Science Club, an initiative of the FSPUB students from the English language study programmes.
The Political Science Club does not own any of the materials projected, as they belong to the respective owners. The movies are shown in accordance to the Romanian Law of copyright (no. 8 /14.03.1996), ch. VI, art. 33, para. i) :“The presentation and execution of a copyrighted material is permitted during activities of education institutions, only for specific purposes and on condition that the presentation or execution, as well as the access of the public, are free of charge”.
